I’m considering using OptIn Fire to display the UK Cookie disclosure alert. However, I don’t see a way to show a banner one-time only so that a cookie is actually set when a user clicks an “I Understand” button.

Actually, would need to do the following:
    – Display the first time a first-time user visits the site
    – When user clicks “I understand”, they no longer see the banner (could I do simply with the button banner and set the link as “#”?
    – Have the banner disappear automatically after a pre-defined amount of time

    Any thoughts?

    Hello HighTechDad,

Optin Fire does have a way only show a banner one for a viewer and after the click the close button on it, then it will not show anymore for them. However there is currently not a way to perform this action from a button link, meaning a button the user clicks on from the banner.

I would suggest however that you display a banner that just says you are collecting cookies and that this banner can be dismissed by clicking the close button. This way the user will have to close the banner in order for it to stop showing and they also read about the cookies on your site.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
